Track Visits on Web Pages and Email Opens

The tracking pixel allows you to track how many times a webpage or a banner has been viewed (visits) or how many times an email was opened (opens).

A tracking pixel is a little piece of code containing a transparent image (1 pixel * 1 pixel dimension) that can be inserted in all the pages of your website, in the page where a banner is published, in a blog (when you post something) or in emails you send.

To generate the tracking pixel, you have to log-in to your ClickMeter account and click on "New link". Then select the "tracking pixel" option. Then you have to follow the simple instructions to embed the code on your pages or emails.

With ClickMeter you can generate as many tracking pixels as you want. Thus you can track visits on an unlimited number of websites, track as many email opens you want etc...

Tracking pixels could also be used to track lead conversions. They offer data insights into which users from which emails, blog posts or pages on your website, lead to a conversion. You'll also receive information about visitors to your pages who didn't click on your tracking links.

Some use cases:

A) Email views / opens (How many people opened my email?)

  • If you are going to track an email marketing campaign including newsletters or emails you're sending to your clients, you may want to know how many people opened your email and how many clicks came from this email.
  • You could track every link within an email with standard tracking links as well as insert the “track visits” code snippet in your email’s html code.

Remember to include all the new tracking links in the same campaign and use something like “Visit counter” as the user-friendly name of the tracking link you'll use to track the visits. In order to track both clicks and opens, you need to create a tracking link and a tracking pixel, and associate them in the same campaign.

B) Page views (How many viewed the page of my site/blog?)
Just insert the tracking pixel code snippet in the page(s) you want to track. If you want to track more pages, just insert it on every page you need to track (usually the same tracking pixel is inserted on all the pages of the website because ClickMeter is able to understand from which pages the visits are coming from).

C) Posts, signatures
If you have the chance to insert the code snippet inside the post, for example in a forum or a blog, you'll be able to know how many people viewed your post and you can also use another tracking link to know how many clicked on the link you posted.
Remember to include both tracking links in the same campaign. By comparing how many people viewed your post and how many clicked the link in the post, you can calculate the efficiency of your message through the CTR (click-through rate).
